Tully Lou X Brownless

Earlier this year we teamed up with Melbourne based active wear label Tully Lou. Meeting Tully Humphrey, who created the label in 2013, it’s clear she really knows her stuff about being fit and healthy, but also how to feel confident and comfortable while doing so. We got to try out and wear some of The Upstate line which features bright and colour crop tops and matching pants. We liked to pair these outfits with our Adidas sneakers, or Nike Free Runs, also incorporating a little bit of leather. We spent the morning around Richmond, visiting our favourite smoothie store Nutrition Bar, and had a chat about what kind of exercises we do- Interview below.

Lucy (pictured right) and her younger sister Ruby (left) are young up and coming lifestyle bloggers taking over Melbourne. Born and raised in Geelong (their name sounds familiar because they’re they offspring of Geelong AFL legend Billy Brownless), their social pages and blog take you on a journey from the sisters each unique style and their love for all things health, fashion, travel and happiness. We got to spend a morning with them shooting and finding out what their favourite ways to break a sweat are and their favourite hangout spots in Melbourne.

Being healthy is..

Very Important to us. Having a balanced, active and happy lifestyle means everything!

My daily breakfast is usually..

LB – Avo on toast if I’m running out the door before Pilates,

Or if I need something more substantial I love having a big brekkie with poached eggs, avocado and Kale.

RB – Acai bowl or poached eggs on toast

Favourite ways to workout at the moment are..

L&R – We have just started this new yoga in Geelong called Ebb&Flow, which is hot yoga which we both love doing together, sometimes our whole family does it. We also both love KX Pilates and KX cycle

My strange wellness habit..

LB – I could eat 2 avocados a day, so I have to cut back on that.

RB – Not to sure about, this one!

Favourite healthy hangout spots..

–       Winters Café in Geelong

–       Combi

–       Green cup

–       Drugstore

–       Natural Harrys (great smoothies in Barwon Heads)

–       Whole foods in Torquay

–       Heal Thy Self

(We are both obsessed with finding new hang out spots)

If I was a food I’d be..

LB – Avocado

RB – Sushi

3 things people might not know about us are:

–       We have 2 little brothers, Oscar and Max

–       We spend our time between Geelong and Melbourne

–       Opposite, but we compliment each other

My current style obsession is..

Mini Dresses and Adidas Sneakers

Gym to street style tip..

Invest in good gym clothes, so you feel confident in what you’re wearing because most times you never know who you are going to run into after the gym or a class, and you’ll always feel better if you feel good in what you are wearing.

Everyone should at least once..

Visit a retreat somewhere you normally wouldn’t go, and take time out to learn different things.

The best things in life are..

Are always the unexpected little things, and finding happiness in that is really important.

@makeupbykatarina

Katarina is one of my favourite makeup artists! Her style is a combination of dewy, glowy, and flawless makeup. Using a range of products and brands like Nars, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Napoleon Perdis, Mac ect.

Katarina does a traditional foundation base with airbrushing foundation, cream contouring and highlighting as well as the technique baking to keep makeup on for longer and help achieve a bright Hollywood highlight.

@cassandralusi_mua

Cassandra is also one of my favourite makeup artists! She has a much more natural look, leaving a really nice natural yet dewy looking finish. Creating that perfect glow, natural looking eyes with a touch of warmth. Not only just doing makeup, but Cassandra does hair styling as well! Creating beautiful, wavy curls finished in just a few minutes! If your looking for the complete package of both beautiful makeup and hair, Cassandra is definitely the one!

Primer

First things first, it’s so important to start your makeup routine with primer! Not only does it make your makeup last longer, but it also helps keep your skin hydrated. I love to use Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Primer $59, it feels super light on the skin and smells amazing!

1

Available to purchase here: http://napoleonperdis.com/aus/cosmetics/auto-pilot-pre-foundation-skin-primer.html

Foundation

I change up my foundation all the time, but recently I have been using two foundations. The first one is my favourite Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, $71 in the shade Barcelona.

2

Available here: http://mecca.com.au/search?q=nars

I like to mix this colour with my Hourglass Veil Fluid Foundation SPF15 $95 in the shade No.4 Beige. This silk-like foundation leaves a long-lasting finish, as you can build up the coverage. Also really great that it contains sunscreen, protecting your skin from the sun.

3

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/hourglass/veil-fluid-makeup-spf-15/V-007471.html#q=hourglass&start=1

To apply the foundation I have recently been using the Double-Ended Blending Sponge from Stila $18. I love using a sponge instead of a brush as you are able to create streak-free finish.

4

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/stila/double-ended-blending-sponge/V-016482.html?cgpath=brands-stila-all#start=1

Bronzer

For bronzer I love to use Stila Stay All Day Bronzer in Medium $58, the bronze colour is really nice over any foundation, to create a warm sun kissed look.

5

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/stila/stay-all-day-bronzer/V-021261.html?cgpath=brands-stila-all#start=1

Blush

For blush I use Nars Blush $47 in the shade Orgasm. It is really warm, and peachy creating a nice healthy shimmer to the cheeks.

6

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/nars/blush/V-000376.html#q=nars&start=1

Sometimes when I want to stick to more of a creamy look I’ll use Nars The Multiple in the shade South Beach $62. This just gives you more of a creamy, subtle glow instead of using a powder.

7

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/nars/the-multiple/V-000462.html#q=nars%2Borgasm&start=1

Mascara

One of the best mascara’s I’ve ever used is the Benefit They’re Real Lengthening Mascara $24 in Jet Black. The mascara lengthens, curls, volumes, lifts and separates lashes to give your lashes a full makeover!

8

Available to purchase here: https://www.benefitcosmetics.com/us/en/product/theyre-real-lengthening-mascara

Eyebrows

Filling in your eyebrows can make such a difference, it really makes you feel finished. I like to use Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in the shade Soft Brunette $51. The pencil gives you a brush on one end and a thick pencil on the other, giving you complete control over how intense you want your brows to look.

9

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/hourglass/arch-brow-sculpting-pencil/V-015196.html#q=hourglass%2B&start=1

Setting Spray

Lastly to complete your look, and allow your makeup to set, I use Urban Decey All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray $23.

setting

Available to purchase here: http://mecca.com.au/urban-decay/all-nighter-long-lasting-makeup-setting-spray/V-021094.html?cgpath=makeup-complexion-primer#start=1

All makeup is available to purchase by following the links! I highly recommend booking a makeup application appointment Mecca Cosmetica to get your makeup done, where you are able to try on all different products to see what products best suit you! The application is $80 which is then redeemable on products.

My Bali Trip

Bali is called ‘The Island of The Gods’ and that is a perfect way to describe it… On the 20th of March I left for a 2-week getaway to Bali!

Where to stay:

Villa Mahasari is located just behind the main street, and is a stunning 4 bedroom private villa. What made this luxurious villa so amazing was the incredible staff. They were so kind and helpful with everything, from ordering takeaway to organising massages to take place at our villa. With 4 bedrooms located both upstairs and downstairs, it is perfect for big group bookings as well as smaller groups. The outdoor area is so spacious, fitted with your own pool and lounges.

Next we stayed at Villa Jodie which is right on the main street! It was in such a good location, right in the middle of all the great shops in Seminyak. The villa was beautiful and very peaceful, and the breakfast brought to us each morning was amazing!

Four On Drupadi is located in the heart of Seminyak off the main hustle and bustle Seminyak street. From stepping into the estate, the tranquil and calming atmosphere of the place is evident within just minutes of arriving.

We stayed in villa Yuubi, a Japanese inspired Villa, meaning love in Japanese. It was a two-bedroom villa with our own pool and traditional Japanese hot bathtub located outdoors.

Downstairs the master bedroom overlooked the pool and garden. It featured a spacious bathroom fitted with an outdoor shower and a bathtub.

The second story villa features an incredible enchanting Japanese rooftop garden with white pebbles and potted bonsai shrubs. I would highly recommend staying here for a relaxing and peaceful stay.

For the second week we checked into Peppers Seminyak, staying at a 3-bedroom villa. This was incredible; the resort is huge, with a great gym, spa and restaurant. You really don’t need to leave the resort, perfect for families, and couples.

pepeppep1pep2pep5pepp

Lastly we stayed at Villa Saba 10, which was one of my absolute favourites. Located in Umalas, only a short 3-minute cab ride out of Seminyak. The villa sleeps 11 people, and is very spacious, with both security, and staff. The villa features your own pool, lounges, kitchen, outdoor baths, and a beautiful yoga studio on the rooftop. Would highly recommended staying here, especially if you are a large group wanting your own private villa.

Sydney Getaway

Sydney getaway

We went to Sydney for a mid week getaway last week, and absolutely loved the relaxed, chilled, laid back vibe that Bondi had to offer. We stayed two nights right on Bondi Beach, which was a great hub that lead us into amazing local cafes (our favourite was Porch and Parlor). Next we headed to Bondi beach (100 metres away) for a quick swim and then down to the shops.

There are so many great boutiques in Sydney, some of our favourites were Tuchuzy, Desordre, The Corner Shop, Saturdays Surf NYC and Parlour X where we picked up some easy to wear casual pieces. We enjoyed sunset drinks at The Bucket List at the Bondi Pavilion, which is great for checking out what is happening around Bondi, and then made our way up to Icebergs for dinner. The Icebergs had the most amazing view overlooking the southern end of the beach.

On our second day we hit the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte, and then stopped in Bronte for brunch at Three Blue Ducks. Next, we worked our way up to Sydney’s northern beaches, which are very beautiful, and then checked into Watson’s Bay boutique for our last night in Sydney. Watsons Bay has a very relaxed vibe throughout the whole hotel (we could of been in the Hamptons!) There was no better way to wrap up our weekend than with a sunset dinner and drinks.

Until next time Sydney!

ALOHA, Hawaii

ALOHA

We both love Hawaii as we have visited the island 3 times now, and were so excited to go back. We went with our family and had such a nice relaxing time, and we both got a lot of inspiration out of our trip. We stayed at The Royal Hawaiian on Waikiki Beach, which is in a great spot right on the beach and right on the shopping strip with great restaurants/cafes very close by. We also rented a car and made a day trip to the North Shore, to check out the unique shops, restaurants and beautiful beaches, The North Shore is beautiful, such a different pace to Waikiki and so unique. There was also a lot of surf going on when we were there which was cool to see also.

We got up super early one morning and had a surfing lesson at sunrise, which was an amazing experience, and the best place to learn right on Waikiki beach as the waves are very gentle.

Another morning our whole family did the Diamond head hike, which has the most amazing view from the top.

We love everything Hawaii has to offer.. The amazing food, beautiful beaches, boutique shopping, palm trees and continuous sunshine.

Faces of the Polo Season

The Jeep Portsea Polo in association with Peroni will return once again to the Peninsula this coming January, combining everything Melbourne has to offer in fashion, food, wine, the love of sport and the excitement of polo.

With the spring racing carnival officially over, Jeep Portsea Polo gives party goers the chance to experience the summer stallions and mix with the A-list social scene at the must attend event on the summer calendar.

The Jeep Portsea Polo in association with Peroni showcases the top Australian and international polo players alongside gourmet food and wine, designer clad ladies and gentlemen at chic marquee parties – all set against the stunning seaside backdrop of Portsea.

Having got a taste of the Jeep Portsea Polo last year, Ruby and Lucy Brownless are excited about again attending a world class event over the summer.

“I loved the Spring Carnival and had an amazing time, but being so close to the horses and the players at the Polo is a completely different and amazing experience,” Lucy said.

“Growing up with the footy, it’s actually very similar because you can sit on the fence and watch the sport, but at the same time you can enjoy a casual drink with friends and just relax.”

The Jeep Portsea Polo is The Birdcage at the beach, merging glamour with a relaxed and laid back feel, something Ruby Brownless is excited to be a part of.

“I loved the Spring carnival but the Polo is different, it’s a more relaxed fashion and such an amazing day out with friends,” said Ruby.

The Jeep Portsea Polo is on Saturday, January 9 at the scenic Polo Ground within Point Nepean National Park.
